Hi guys just want to get an idea what you all used to put between the panels & cards? Where you got it from?

Cheers

I have just bought some thermal wrap - basically bubble wrap covered in tin foil - from Wickes for £12.50 for a 8m roll. I intend to put this on the skin then fill the void with loft insulation - Homebase sell 10m of recycled plastic bottles for £5. No plans for any sound proofing tho.

there's a few threads about this but I've gone through them myself as I'm at the same stage. In summary:
'Thermawrap' from Focus/ Wickes/ B&Q etc - £25.00 for 7M x 1M enough for the van and equivalent to 55 mm of polystyrene - Apparently.. http://www.thermawrap.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or sleeping mats from Lidl !
roof felt just as a bit of sound deadening

or
sound deadening pads available from local motor factors (but things like this are £££)
have a look at these

Alternatively, there's this stuff which I'm thiking of getting. It's been recommended by my local garage who do A LOT of T4/ T5 conversions using Reimo stuff. He reckons a roll @ £13 ish should easily do a whole campervan

I've then got some waterproof underlay left over from laminate flooring. Available from B&Q etc. Not too £££

Hope this helps!

dont bother, just put more clothes on ;) , seriously though unless its a refrigeration van i wouldnt bother, only my opinion but i still cant see that any insulation will make a noticable difference enough to go to the effort, and will only restrict air flow and trap moisture. I wait in anticipation for much slating for my comments :mrgreen: :)

Thats fair enough, what you think to wax oil? not sure to do the inner pannels or not?

IMHO, if you properly treated the metal panels with some sort of protecting layer before applying sound-proofing / insualtion, I think you will be okay. The more you put in the quieter the bus will be to drive 8)

wot he says^^^^

i can understand putting sound deadening on your panels, but not too sure about the insulation. surely if you have a poptop all heat is going to be lost through that. also, what about all of those windows...they will lose most of the heat.. wouldnt they???

some kind of insulation will soften the noise and drafts surely? even if you lose some of it through the windows (even they are laminated causing a thermal break) and roof, a saving will be made on heat and sound. Cold metal causes the condensation of water inside when cooking and sleeping. I heard that polystyrene squeaks, does anyone know something slightly squashy but not water absorbent. There is some spray on stuff which reduces condensation and insulates, but I am reluctant to permanently gack the metal panels, even behind the cards.
