Does anyone have any advice for my situation?

My van is still in resto - perhaps 2 months from being finished and my insurance is due this week.
Its being garaged during the resto, but not at my home address (ie the address on my policy). It hasnt been at my address for the last 10 months!
The value has obviosuly increased, but the van is not completed yet, so I dont really know how it will be valued in the current state.
To complicate things I will be moving house in three weeks - changing my home address and my current insurer is now saying the van needs to be garaged......I wont have one at my new address! (Despite living here two years ago and being insured up to £15K by the same company). I will live close to a secure caravan storage centre and am considering putting it in there.

Any thoughts / similar experiences will be appreciated

Thanks

Sh*t! Its not looking good!

Spoke to Cherished (after reading everyones praise for them on here)....
The van must be garaged or on the drive to be insured by them if the value is more than £5K! (I reckon its worth at least £15K).
However, there is no garage or drive at the house I'm moving to!

They 'might' consider insuring it at a higher value if I can find a garage to 'keep' it in near my house. However I 'may' not be insured if I park the vehicle outside my house for more than enough time to load/unload etc. He said it was a grey area - Im not filled with confidence!

Whats the difference in risk bewteen leaving the van full of camping gear parked in a busy car park while out and about or driving at 60 on the motorway to being parking outside my own f*cking house for a while???

The storage at a 'secure caravan/campervan storage unit' is also not looking like an option - same applies, as the van would not be covered when outside my house, but would be everywhere else! Madness.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm insured with Sureterm and my van is insured as parked on driveway, guarenteed valuation. I also phoned Cherished but Sureterm beat there quote and i have breakdown cover thrown in for free (i threatened to leave).
There is no loyalty any more from insurance companies so dont feel obliged to stay with one (new customers get bigger discounts than existing customers)

Its a bit of a mine-field....I called 6 companies yesterday
Im not bothered about loyalty, just want to have the cover I need for a reasonable price.

It looks like until I can find a suitable garage to rent, to prevent it being kept on the road I will keep it at the local caravan storage secure compound, but to ensure I am still covered if parked outside my house and to ensure I have an agreed value, its going to be £445 with Adrian Flux (insuered by Grouparama) - also includes key and lock replacement and payment in instalments.

Any feedback on Adrian Flux?
