I'm doing this rear disc conversion that I saw on here a while back and I've just made up one of the caliper brackets as a template to have a pair machined up don't no cost's yet but anyone else interested in a pair?

im very interested, i was looking to fit porsche pattern rotors for cookie cutters, what pattern are you running? it looks like porsche? does it add any width to the track?

I assume the astra calipers have a fixed safety brake?

They are merc 190 front discs with hub adapter/spacer to fit porsche stud pattern,
The spacer does increase track but most porsche wheels need this as the offset is
Around 50-55 and the late bay has an offset of 35,
The reason for using mk4 astra calipers is the fact that the hand brake operates the
piston on the caliper doing away with need for seperate hand brake set up.

This conversion is only for late/early bays!
ie crossovers with 5x112 stud patern,
You will need a pair of merc 190(w201)82-93 solid front discs with a dia of 262mm,
And a pair of astra mk4 2.0 16v 98-2005 rear brake calipers,
Also modified hand brake cables and brake lines,
Then a pair of caliper brackets which I should get a price for this afternoon.
Or if anyone want's to pay for postage you can borrow my template after i've had my brackets made.
And you also need to machine the hub down to fit insde disc.

Calipers were £40 for a pair, new cross drilled EBC discs were £36, brake lines £37, caliper brackets (machining) £60 a pair. hubs machined to fit discs £30, handbrake cable £?

£200ish all in, not to bad for vented rear disc brakes 8)

hopefully should have a full tutorial + Neils pics up soon. Its a cheap reliable way to get rear discs with integrated handbrake

Very interesting. Will this increase track? Will Porsche wheels go straight on?
