Hi,

This has been posted on Latebay too, so if you are on both forums, you may recognise this thread.

I have twin ICT34s. They run fine, but the top gasket gets wet with fuel, especially when first switched off. I'd does not drip down the carbs but after a while dries out.

I have fitted a filter king regulator and it is set to 2.5psi. I have also replaced my mech fuel pump as is was dying.

To make matters worse, I forked out for some new carbs and they are doing the same thing.

I have checked the float levels and replaced the gaskets several times. I have even doubled them up to make sure they seal all the way around. I do fit them dry.

I do have a fuel cut-off solenoid fitted near the tank, wired to ignition.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Can't say I have noticed this on mine that were recently fitted. Next time I take it out for a run i will check the gaskets and report back if it would be useful?

Hi - thanks, it would. Eurocarb say the gaskets do get a bit wet. I think it is a bit excessive.

I sent the tops back as they did not have flat faces and not pinching the gasket at the front. Eurocarb said the ones they had in stock were worse and are taking it up with Weber.

Mine were from eurocarb in April. Will be next out at the weekend so will have a look, is it a long run you get the problem with?

If I start with new gaskets, it takes a few runs to soak up the fuel, then they get wet every time. Whilst driving, it is not a problem as the fuel is obviously being used in the engine. It is when I stop, it happens.

Ok well I'll have a look straight after stopping and then a little while afterwards to see what state they are in. Give me a nudge Saturday evening if I haven't posted as I may forget!

Had a look after my run out on Saturday, as far as I could tell the gaskets werent wet.. Touching them didn't leave a residue on the finger.

Hope that helps......

Hi,

Thanks for that, I may be onto something. Last couple of times, after turning off the engine, I turned back on the ignition for about 30 seconds to allow the aftermarket fuel shutoff solenoid to hold open. The carbs did not seem to leak around the gasket as they did before. Might be a weird pressure thing. Fingers crossed...

Very sorry to kick this off again, but I still have the issue of the gaskets getting wet after switch off.

I have by-passed the 3rd party fuel cut off solenoid so everything is stock setup as I thought that was the issue.

I have been out for a run and waited for the carbs to show signs after switch off and checked them. Both carbs, even after 10 mins, still showed fuel on the closed butterfly. Then I noticed the pump jet dripped fuel.

Could this be related? I could still see fuel vapour in the right carb for around five minutes as well. If I blew it out, it returned.

Cheers

One of my set had the pump jet gasket pinched when they were assembled. This caused a leak which made the side wet after driving for a while and a strong smell of fuel through the heating. Could you have something similar?

Took me a little while to find that one :) easy fix by removing the diaphragm and straightening. The crease on mine was at the bottom so I turned that side to the top and its been fine since

I bought one and didn't fit it in the end. Hope it sorts your problems!
