can it be done, and has it been done?

Just asking for interest really, as i'm sure i heard once that it cant be done.

Not really worth it in my opinion, left hookers arent that difficult to get on with (panel vans might be tricky sometimes) and dispite what some may say there are plenty of good right hookers out there.
I know some people complain that its difficult to overtake in a LHD but that doesnt ussually affect Bay drivers :)

i think slammedkustom had done one of these? or had some knowledge of it? (correct me if im wrong  )

SK certainly has done it and cant see him doing it ever again if you read his thread  unless someones willing to pay big bucks for it (then he is a bit of a perfectionist)......

indeed i did do it, there are plenty of converted ones out there but 90% are pure poop! and a couple ive seen are just plain dangerous.
i only really did it to mine cos its a keeper, check the thread out

top quality work on it....

would the CE rack and pinion make a conversion a bit easier?

Last drove a RHD bus about 20yrs ago, my '67 split Devon. A bus is so different to a conventional car to drive, that now used to LHD Bay, anything else would seem wrong! I have clipped door mirrors and kerbs in the car after driving the bus, too much sticking out on the left!
The only hassle for me so far was going to Vanfest. Joining motorways or changing lanes in the dark with torrential rain was like Russian roulette, but we survived and am aclimatising (sp) to the whole mirror thing!. Would not change things for the world. I love my bus as it is, it just feels 'right'!

try driving a LHD panel van, windows make a world of diference!

Johnny the CE set up would probably help some, ive been looking at various busses and some have the steering box opening, some dont.... a plasma cutter would also have cut down on the time but now ive done it the next one should be a lot quicker....did i say next one

lol once you have done one, you will do another!!

my daily is a LHD TT so i'm used to it, but its nice to know that if at some point in the future i have a large bag of cash and the desire to convert i know who to turn too

I have a 69 westy that is being converted at the moment, im using my RHD 73 as a donor as the shell is rotton but mechanically its spot on. if you didnt have all the parts then it would get very expencive to buy individually. I personally dont like driving LHD but if you dont mind then it will save a lot of money and hassle.

this thread made me go back and finish the floor, couple bits of welding to do, a light skim of filler on the joins and some 2k primer...looks a whole lot better

I got an extra little mirror that clips to the quarterlight on the RHS. It is wide angle, it is a god send on the motorway and at angled junctions. Got mine on ebay for about a tenner.:D
