Not sure if this has been done before?

The UK sales figures show 72 was the year with the highest sales (and legend has it they are also the most rusty year due to low quality metal), so what year is most common on earlybay?

I also heard that 1972 was the year most where manufactured, but it will be interesting to see the results here.I didn't know about the low quality metal in a '72 though.

yep i heard that too not just the metal but the seals between panels on 72s something to do with all the changes taking place definatly know a few people with really rotten 72s

Please tell me it's an an urban rust myth

I've heard that too, the version I heard was that it was a worldwide quality issue - although, to be honest, the underside of my bus isn't any worse than any other van I've seen!

;)

Havent seen mine then

Cast my '68 vote - although strictly speaking the van was built in '67

Mine sneeked into Jan 1970 (only by a wisker!) 8)

I keep meaning to pull this kind of stuff out of the profile database as there is a field for people to put their van details - when I get round to it I will post some stats up about years, types etc...

There is one of the US books on bay windows that states that 72's seem to be worse for rust - think it seems more of an urban myth to me ..

ive always wondered if 71s are all the same, i have all the early features but with 112x5 and discs up front, so best of both worlds although wheels arent as nice for choice, i much prefer wide 5s
