Finally went for my very first journey in my Bay Westy with the family!

1600TP engine with twin 32 Dell carbs and single quiet pack. 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 large dog, 1 bike. 55mph flat out with foot to the floor in every gear. The engine's carbs were tuned and compression is fine.

Does this sound about right? If so, I am guessing I will have to go the Type 4 2.0 litre route or go bigger with the type 1 setup...

Thanks.

....are you getting full range on the carbs :?:

1600tp with twin kadrons std exhaust..with 2 adults sits at 65-70mph no problem.

Hmm, not too sure what that means (sorry, not that technical!). Before I start looking into the tech side of things, I was just trying to get an opinion to see if this kind of performance was normal. I am now suspecting that it's not ;-)

I will check that both carbs are opening fully tomorrow.

Thanks

our bus fully loaded and i mean fully loaded with just standard 1600 twinport pulls 60 -65 with ease so something seems amiss fella....sorry dooder :(

Are you running standard wheels and tyres as changing rolling radius can have quite an effect :?:

.......get the wife to put her foot to the floor (engine not running  ) then see if you can open the carbs by hand, in the engine bay, any further.....

.....also is the acc. pedal linkages on an EB can have more slack than a "" ...if you know what I mean

I have smaller rolling radius 15" alloys/tyre combo and even taking the 10% actual to reading difference, I get 70mph........scarey it is tooooooooo

just back from a 20 min run in mine, just got it back again tonight, 1914 with twin 40s, running it in at the mo

60mph at 3000rpm, 75mph, at 3500rpm, im gonna like this

yep something not right there,i think i remember someone saying the top speed from new was 72mph,(im asuming thats with a revlimeted rotor arm)

im running a 1600 with twincarbs and it has hit well over that now and again, but will run at 70 all day quite hapily (with 6 people and camping stuff)

also check you havent got loads of slack in the throtle cable,is your foot going down an inch before you get any revs?

You are just showing off... This is a 1600cc question

My 1600 sp westy fully loaded will get to 65mph (on sat nav - 75 on speedo)......never gone any faster....a bit too scared

Generally potter along at 55mph (on sat nav) no problem, but it is not a fan of the hill

Standard carb too.

Well im not sure if mine is a 1500 or a 1600, but what ever it is, with me , the wife, baby and full camping gear i had 60 MPH.

Mine is a 1600 TP with twin 34icts and it sits at 70 all day fully loaded with 2 adults, tons of camping stuff and a few barrels of cider  Please be aware aswell that at 70 - 75mph its only doing just under 4000rpm...........result!

As for your problem, first point of call would be to check all your accelerator linkage and see if there is any play, then get it rolling roaded as I have known a few remtec engines to produce that sort of power from new :(
