I purchased this van about a year ago from ebay after sending years looking for a van that was original and this was about 1 mile from my house!!!!!!
It's a 1970 Dormobile camper with just over 68000 miles.
I am the 3rd owner..... the last owner had the van from when it was 2 years old and sold it to me last year......thats over 32 years he owned it!.
It's just like it left Dormobile with all of it's original fittings still in place.
The van has both the bunk beds, a buddy seat and a dormobile stool that is also the toilet(The owner commented " i have only had a couple of wees in the toilet") in the same style as the cupboards.
The van also has the original curtains all round and a replacement set of curtains that possible are from a dormobile also?
The van is still on crossply tyres and the spare is the original from the factory, the owner said that he has only used the spare a few times and remembered wrapping the jack in newspaper when he fitted the spare...when i checked it was from 1984!!!!!!!
The bumpers are fitted with the deluxe trims but i do not know when.
I have refurbished and repainted the fresh air vent in body colour only to find out the brown paint was possibly original dormobile brown....if anyone knows let me know.I also fitted an nos delux trim around the grill as i felt it would match the bumpers
Future plans include keeping the bus original but replacing all the rubbers.
I have purchased a 1970 clock to fit to the remaining hole on the dash...this will be the only modification.

The seat covers are all original although there has been a repair carried out by the owner, if any one knows where to get the original or very similar replacement material please let me know.

In this photo you can see a clock that the previous owner has sitting in the remaining hole in the instrument cluster and thats why i am fitting a correct year genuine clock

In the back groung you can see my other early bay more on that one later.

thats real nice son ,love the colour . couple of cool vans you got there 8)

I've seen this van in the flesh (or metal, depending on how you look at it) many times and can vouch for it's exceptional originality!

Hi Deano,

Nice to see you put up the pics of your Dormobile, although can't believe you didn't post any pics of that stool/toilet..... as that is something you don't see every day (without the aforementioned contents obviously  )!

Jealous, me, never

Well done and excellent van :D

Lets see some more interior shots, plus, what't the canvas like :?:

Deano,

Just found some pictures of our early Bays together at Vanfest 06 that I don't think you would have seen yet?

Nice original van you have there. :)

I am intrigued by your description of the wc / stool arrangement - any chance of a picture?

ew! the comments people post on the net, dis-bloody-gusting!

save that for specialist websites, not respectable ones like this one 'ere

 [/i]

Wow thanks everyone for such a warm welcome.........i was not expecting such a response!!!!!!!!

I will try to answer all the questions that people ask so here goes!

The canvas is ok but there is a small slice about 2inches long.

I would have taken some photo of the toilet/seat tonight but i went down the pub to celebrate St.Georges days instead but i will try some night soon.

Might come in handy at bugjam!!!!!!!!!

I am led to believe that both of these curtains are original does any one know if thats true.
PIC00010.jpg

I have a full set of these and was told by the owner they are the original.
PIC00013.jpg

I also have a set of these minus the front curtains....once again does anyone know if these are original?........does anyone have a front set for sale.

Thanks for posting the photos. Intriguing. I have never seen one of those before. They cetainly didn't feature in the brochures i saw.

I cant be completely sure about the curtains but they do look very similar to ones fitted in the roadtest one from 1968. Unfortunately the photos were black and white, so its hard to be certain.

I have a copy of the 1970 Dormobile price list dated 27.04.70 and it states
" Dormo_loo(toilet unit) £14"
I am guessing that as it matches so well with the rest of the van that this is the dormo_toliet .£14 then was a lot of money i guess that why you don't see many. I am planning on contacting the previous owner regarding a couple of questions I have with the van

The curtains in the first pic look identical to those in Rikki James' 69 (now rumoured sold)

Re the Dormo-loo; I have the 31/12/69 1970 price list and it does not appear in that, it does however appear in the 20/10/71 price list though, priced at £16.00, yours is the first I have ever seen - top optional extra!

Sorry, people seem to think I meant they werent in the brochures I saw - what I meant is that they werent pictured in the brochures I saw and hence I was really intrigued to see one finally. :)
