Built by me, and based on a 69 kombi with the interior and roof from a 72 california import. Yes it's true, i stripped and chopped down a california bus, but since they're not that well protected agains road salt the swedish winters ate it all up in some 2 winters or so. The bottom half was almost completely gone, but the interior was almost complete and in good shape. Changing roofs on the 69 proved to be a complicated job. Beacause of the rear pillars difference between 72 and earlier i couldn't do the regular pillar-chop that's common when changing roof. Despite the big effort it's now done and it's been serving me for about 15000 km's now. An engine swap is in progress as well as some minor welding and gear box swap.
This pic taken at the Hultsfred festival last summer, shows the exterior:
(never mind the sleeping guy in the background  )
This picture shows the interior from when I was "finished" with the conversion (about some 18 months ago):
This is the converted closet. I reckon food storage to be more useful than to be able to hang your costume properly. Equipped with lights that lights automatically:
Other things that are rebuilt is the electrical system and the ice-box, that now is converted to electricity! There's still lot to do, concidering electrical, but also in the welding department, and a real coat of paint would be nice. Whenever there's a possibility, these things will be done but as for now it's serving me as a daily driver in the summer time and it suites me that I don't have to be scared of driving it in the lively city traffic.
