When I slow down to junctions, lights & round-a-bouts in my camper
It just cuts out even when warmed up ........ any ideas on what I should be looking at?

also the carb is ice cold

Feel your heat riser pipes on the manifold, they should be hot, if theyre not ,and your manifold is frosty below the carb, they will be blocked with carbon and probably partly the cause of the stalling.
Are you running a std air filter with warm air pipe from below tin attached ?

It could just be your mixture setting on the carb, or timing etc causing that stalling too.

had this returning from skegvegas last year, just points gap needed adjusting.....worth a try first :)

start from the top

adjust the valves > check the points gap (even better fit electronic ignition) > check the idle and mixture screws, is it running rough? might be worth replacing the air and mixture screw 'o' rings. are there any air leaks? is the choke connected and working? it should step off the cam as the engine heats up and idle revs should slow.

what kind of carb (34 pict3?) and dizzy have you got? SVDA DVDA?

http://www.vw-resource.com/34pict3.html is a good resource for setting up timing and tuning.

if none of this works you might need to remove the manifold and get it de-coked.

another faster method if you have oxy-acetylene available.
