Hi all, going to repair the cracked steering wheel today while the weather is (as usual) crappy.
How do I get the horn push button off without damaging it? do I just use brute force and lever it off ? - it seems very secure!!! :|

(I'll do a how 2 with pics as well!)

Thanks in advance!

Bit of apain this as it will be brittle. How ive done it is use two diner knifes and just carfully prise it up has worked for me but ive also chipped one as well so its not fall proof
Cheers

Yep I managed to get mine off by very carefully getting the tip of a blade of a stanley knife round the edge of the horn push and then popping it off. Alternatively try something like a blob of blue-tack or a bit of gaffer tape stuck onto the horn push and then see if you can pull it off that way. :)

Thanks chaps! - I realised it is the black push button that comes away from the silver ring - I was tryin to prise the silver ring up. lucky no damage done!
photographic How 2 to follow over the next few days! :)

flathead screwdriver in the tab located on the silver ring...bingo...good luck getting the steering wheel off though...i reccomend a very good three prong gear puller( needs to be long enough before you buy any old puller!) and if any of your mates happen to have a genuine vw steering wheel tool then magic...they normally damage when pulling without it..and then theres the lucky guy that just hit it with a hammer and off it came...never worked for me though without smashing the wheel into 30 pieces..you live and learn
