Can anyone tell me the size of the castle nut on the rear brakes (on a 1970) as I need to get the correct sized socket to undo them!

Many thanks

46mm & a bit of info on tech thread.................

Cheers for that...funnily enough, searching for castle nut didn't turn up the answer...hub nut is obviously where it's at!

I welded a socket on the end of a scaffold bar, then extended it because it was so tight

You'll need someone to hold the brake on too. Also if you mark the nut in relation to the hub you can do it back up to where it was before.

We've just done this on our Split - worryingly it came undone with just a large adjustable spanner and little pressure
