Whilst checking the underside of my van the other day I noticed that both rear torsion bar end caps had rusted through. Took one off and tried to get the inner cup out to no avail. Searching the interweb found some on Autocraft Engineering for just over a tenner each. Thought they looked a bit flimsy but when they arrived turned out to be genuine VW parts. I also got a pair of the rubber boots that sit inside. Turned out to be buggers to fit had to use longer bolts to initially get them into position then used the original bolts to snug them into place.

Did you give the rubbers a sprinkling of talc/French chalk before fitting? Stops them squeaking in a couple of hundred miles.
