Starting to think about the interior of the van (ready for next year) and am looking at R&R beds. Currently got a 3/4 bed thats made up from the table and buddy seats but want to fit an R&R instead. Having looked at various interior (thanks to the gallery) i'm still not sure what type we want but i'm thinking if i get the R&R 1st then i can work around this.
Was in the local Homebase today and a 8x4 sheet of 18mm MDF was about £25 (think it will require 2 sheets) and the hinges are around £60-80 depending on where you go, then theres the foam and coverings on top so looking at £200 (ish) to make my own.
Is this cheaper than buying a complete kit from somewhere like Justkampers etc?
What have you done?

Rusty Lee on here sells full width R & R beds (think he's got one for sale at the mo) steel frame with timber inserts like the ones from bluebird and the quality looks really good. I paid £150 for mine from him and all you then need is the foam.

Easier than trying to make one yourself in my opinion

Me too, just fitted it yesterday after getting seats upholstered. Fits right in there!

Whats the advantage / dis-advantage of a full width over a 3/4 width?
Have PM'd rusty and the beds he sells are full width, where as at the moment the set up in the back of my bay is 3/4 , and being a panelvan conversion (RHD) the rear seat belt mounts (lap belts) where welded into position (1 in the middle and 1 behind the driver) so if i fit a full width there will still only be 2 seat belts. Also i'll lose the storage cupboard that sits next to the 3/4 bench.
What storage has people with full width got and where?
