Hi- I've just joined as I am looking to buy a 1970 LHD westy. It is a bit of a mongrol as the roof is rear hinged so I guess from a later model for some reason and the roof bed is home made and needs replacing.

I am trying to find out if I could fit the roof bed from a late bay in it but can't find any dimensions of the two roofs anywhere to see if the new bed would fit.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

the hole in the roof is as it was when it left vw i understand the westys hole was
never made bigger

Westfalia used sliding sunroof vans for there pop top conversions up untill 1973 then they used tin tops and cut the hole themselfs at the same time they moved the hinges to the rear
This is what ive been told and my 1970 pop top westy is defenatly a sliding sunroof van
