I’ll try and have a look for pictures later on. The roof panel itself also incorporates the gutters all in one piece. For the most part, it is spot welded to the cant rails, these run along both sides and the across the rear with purpose made bends on the rear corners. On the straight bits down the sides, it’s almost like a box section made of two angles that’s been squashed a bit, they also have a lip on both pieces just under a half an inch that are joined together and support the roof panel. If you peer under a good bit of roof from the outside, you’ll notice that you’re looking at three pieces of metal although you can only see two. One is the roof panel itself, and recessed into it you’ll see one part of one of the cant rails, the other is on top of it and out of sight. When they were made, I guess everything was tacked or clamped then spot welded through all three pieces at once. I’ve still got some repair panels from ten plus years ago and dismal would be bigging them up. I spent a few weekends trying to marry them in but gave up and changed the whole roof panel spot weld by spot weld. Along the front screen, it’s a similar set up and all hidden behind the screen rubber, on the two top corners at the front, the roof panel is brazed and blended for about two and a half inches. The only way really is, a good quality cut and you have got to be so so careful with the welds as this panel really wants to distort and cause grief. Any repair that’s anywhere near the gutters, 99.999% certain that the cant rails will need a bit of love too.
Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, I’ll try and dig out some pics.
