running rich

My engine is running rich, timing is fine spark plugs black. I bought a Carb from Heritage 30/31 as i remember and was instructed to use the larger jet that came with it again my recollection is jet size 130. Should i drop to a smaller jet to solve the problem? Thank you in advance

better to run rich than lean tbh. what is the spec of your engine? im guessing its an SP?

Standard 1600 TP. Bought carb on recommendation of Heritage was told the 30/31 would give less issues than a 34.

I just brought that carb and didn't get any spare jets. Think the standard jet is for 1600 and if it's smaller then you put the other jet in if it comes with it

if your timing is right you should be able to set the mixture screw to lean it out and adjust idle with the air bypass screw..

Never done this before. Would you say half tern back on the mixture and same on air bypass
