Are the portable sand blasters any good, does anyone use them ? Just looking at those in machine mart, could possibly get them cheaper on eBay. Might get one if there ok !

I struggled with clogging, pain in the arse. would clean out the pipe only for it to clog up straight away, reverted to a small hand held one with built in pot

Exactly what he says! You spend more time trying to get it to work than it actually working.

 sorry typed E B for embarrassing bodies wrong forum !
its all cleared up now

Built my own blaster and cabinet for my resto , you need a big moisture trap as the compressor is running a fair bit but it saved me a lot of £££££ doing it myself ,may be clearing out soon ,think I have about six sacks of course media to go

I bought a blast pot from msb blasting and spent months getting frustrated with clogging, also the media is obscenely expensive to deliver.
I got Some cheaper media from someone that was too big for the metering nozzle and drilled it out a little, I still couldn't use the media but I then found a suppler of crushed glass close enough to drive to, since then it's been a brilliant bit of kit, and as I blast on tarps, I sweep it up and reuse the glass.
I'm not suggesting you need to drill the valve out but it's been much more reliable for me now.
The only 2 negatives are it consumes huge amounts of air, I'm using a pretty large compressor but it can't keep up and I have to pause every couple of mins to allow the pressure to build up in the pot again and unless the pot is full of media it doesn't seem to work quite as well.
Having said all this it's been a great bit of kit, I've saved so much on my bus by blasting and painting.

That's what I'm thinking of doing, I got a 100ltr compressor nearly 3hp motor. Might be borderline but worth a go.

Mines 3hp and it works ok ,if you doing a fair bit just take a break and let it cool down :D
