Hi there. Had our 72 westy 2yrs spend around 16k to get it back to a origional state. Then met the driver from hell. damage estimate says at least 6k But dont want her writing of' as that is what im expecting insurers to say. if its a write of and i buy it back and repair myself to a good standard will they de- classify it from written of. As this would devalue the bus a lot. and i wouldnt want to pay to repair if it has this on its history not the sort of history i was looking for. Also would it be on a Q plate? Any where else i can get a competitive quote but a proper job?

**** fella feel for you, 6K? ouch doesnt look that bad from the one shot, Silver camper Wendy has the details of someone (I cant find them at the mo) near Grantham....

theres a guy supposed to be really good in the centre of Peterborough next to the hospital I'll see if I can find his number for you has a real good rep from what I hear....

If they write it off, they MAY allow you to buy it back. Depends on the insurance company and the policy. If written off and repaired, will always be classed as a write off because that is what has happened, although given a catagory (A or B or C etc) depending on the reason for being written off. 'A' I believe is for vehicles so badly damaged there is little left. My car was a 'C' , easy and safe to repair, but market value less than cost of repair in pro bodyshop. You will not lose the reg number , a 'Q' plate is for a vehicle of indeterminate age, ie a kit car, engine from a '78, axle from a '64 , scratch built chassis etc. Or where year of manufacture cannot be verified ie no VIN. Hope this helps, shame about the damage. :(

Cheers for that pete shedds some light on that numming voice coming over the phone from insurance company. And cheers araon that number would be great for a second quote hope your well

Would be nice to know details, just for future reference. (I'm in Deeping St. James) . Presume near District hospital, as Edith Cavell a bit out of the centre?

People don't bother to HPi old cars anyway so I doubt if anyone would ever know it was a write off.

I can't see the 6k quote being anywhere near close, I have seen guys down here that could repair that without too much trouble. If the bill was half that, I would be surprised.

I can't ee them writing it off to be honest. I am sure they would just repair it.

I could fix that . With a body dozer you could push most of the damage out . Panel wise a new step and a complete side panel, inner sill , B pillar possibly a seat base cut too it wouldnt take much . Id say possibly 4 weeks work after work and wkends etc. I cant see it being written off though because its still running and driving not mullered .

Gadget

Agree with Gadget, wouldnt take much work really and cant be a write off. wouldnt pay 6K to repair it, do some ringing around dood, you will find its allot cheaper than you think to repair. 8)

Yeah Pete district it backs onto the rail sidings opposite side of the bridge to the station.

Cheers for that, don't know the workshop but do know where you mean. Our 'get it out to you in 1/2 hr' exhaust suplier is/was down there.
Cheers, Pete.

I got front ended in the summer, I stood my ground with insurance & made such a nusance of myself with them  that they gave into my stubborness in the end. I also had a bit of help from a Motor trade soliciter..
Whats your agreed valuation?
Good luck

As gadget said , easy repair, and talking from experiance would say the repair to between 2-3k . I would be more concerned about a po's welding than a right off thats been repaired by a pro at a garage if i was buying.

Its insured for about 12k. but its not agreed valuation. had trouble finding somewhere to value it.
