Hi!

The metal panel which covers my sliding door runner was damaged so i sourced a us cali one in the right colour at dubfreeze. All well so far....until I took the old one off.

Took out the 2 screws underneath, found another small nut and bolt at the hinge end, undone this, lost the end of the bolt inside the metal work somewhere, dont know if this is needed - as the replacement panel does not have a hole?

Plus I also found after i got the old one off, that there is a metal rod and screw fixing which grips the panel tight - shame the screw is solid and not moving at all, and the head is showing a good sign of getting mashed up..

How do i get the new panel on? Look like i will have to grind/saw the screw out so i can get the panel in?
Not enough room to get a saw in, so grind it off? Figured if i put some spare metal around the area so i wasn't grinding the van if got too close.

What does every one else do? Thought it would be a 5 min job.......

You can just see the small bolt about to dissapear just to the left on the curve of the sliding door.

And these are the 2 panels.....

Any help would be appreciated!!

Spray on penetrant and try molegrips on screwhead,if it snaps drill and tap.The piece pulls into the grooves when tightened and nips the cover tight, if you get it out use copaslip when putting it back together.
