Sliding door handle won't push up and won't lock

Hi

About a month ago my sliding door handle suddenly stopped being able to push up (from the outside) and so won't lock. Nothing of note happened and it worked fine before. Using a screw driver I have replicated the catch sitting in the striking plate and the handle wants to push up okay then (although still won't fully). So I have tried adjusting the striking plate, including putting washers behind it to push it out in-case the latch wouldn't reach it etc.

I've tried looking for other posts but nothing that has helped has come up!

Mine was a real fiddle to get right, and can only suggest following the Bentley manual to adjust the door position. Might be worth dismantling the lock first and checking that's it's working ok, it's quite straightforward once you've taken the cover off.

I'm having another go at it this afternoon, but it does sound as though its a case of adjusting though as the handle moves up when I replicate the catch sitting in the strike plate / lock keep.

I haven't heard of the Bentley Manual, but I'll google it now!

Okay, I feel a bit green now! I have just ordered the Bentley Manual!

Have you got the trim panel off and had a look at the cable, it may require a bit of adjusting?

I've had the panel off and had a go at adjusting, but no luck. My new Bentley Manual arrived yesterday so I'll go through it with that when I have an hour or so!!!
