Has anyone had cause to remove the sill cover that goes over the top of the sliding door mechanism that runs from the middle of the bus to the back?….What am I on about?

Well something has broken on the hinge mechanism for the sliding door and I need to get to it. I have read on ratwell that you need to remove the screws that secure the cover then gently prise it out. Has anyone done this before and are there any essential tips I need to follow? Cheers

there is a screw either end underneath it that need removing. then it just needs to come off vertically as it fits in a slot than runs along the lower of the window. if you have a good look from underneath it should become obvious.

If you mean the track cover i just took mine off for the first time ...

Mine had 2 screws that you access from under the cover with the door shut ..

a small bolt that ran through from the rear sliding door pillar with a small nut on the outside of the van ..

.. then when you open the door and look at the inside of the track cover you will see a phillips head screw .. loosen it but not all the way ... then with you driver still in the screw tap the driver with the hammer to slide back the wedge strip inside the cover ..

it helps to look in the parts catalogue to picture whats under there ..

you will know if you have been succesful cos it will then become really loose and lift off ..

putting it back on is another thing...

This is what it all looks like. Putting it back is just a fiddle and takes 3 hands.

You dont really need to remove it. The sliding door can be removed easily without disturbing it, giving you access to the slider hardware. :)

Hi - I did it the other day and it was a peice of cake! Everything went back into place dead easy. It might be becuase the bus is an import. Thanks for your tips everyone. If anyone wants details do let me know...it was too dark and damp to do photo's.

The problem getting the track cover off is access to the screw closest to the front of the van. Its easier to get to this with the door almost full open, other than that my only problem was the rusty screw :D
