Hi Guys,

I'm after buying some complete cab doors (with glass and 1/4 lights) and possibly a RHD sliding door for a '72/73 bay.
Has anyone got any recommendations for places to buy?
Go to a show? Try one of the importers? eBay?
Just wondering if anyone has any good or bad experiences with any of the above?

:)

What he said ^^^ unless you come across someone who has imported a bus with some spare parts in it for selling. But you`ll struggle with a rhd slider apart from Rusty`s above.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,, It`s all a bit scarce now for rhd stuff

Starting to think I might just have to patch up the crusty ones which I didn't really want to do...

Cab doors are still fairly easy to get but good ones requiring minimal work will most likely be £200 a piece. As others have said good RHD sliding doors are impossible to find these days, so the top quality refurbs being done by nos vw will be your best bet because if you do find a RHD slider import from Aus or SA there will most likely be tin worm hiding in the seams that you can't see. The re-skinned ones give you the comfort of knowing that they will be truly rust free.

Having said all of the above, if you've got the tools, skills, time and patience then go for it repairing them yourself. I have taught myself a reasonable level of cutting welding and panel beating skills over the last 5 years doing my van. Yes it's taken a while but the satisfaction of knowing that you know every square inch of your van is rust free and that you did it yourself is well worth the pain!
