Speedo repairs

Can anybody recommend a speedo repairer?
The chap I usually use has died, which is a little inconvenient.

Can you tell us what's wrong with it? Speedos are delicate things to work on but there are some clever people on here.

When the speedo cable snapped it wound up like a spring and then released causing the needle to snap and the hairspring disintegrated.

Treat yourself to a smithes electronic Speedo, 1 of the best things I got for my bus.

If they did one for a Sept '68 build I would.

Thanks, but I think the carriage costs might be a little expensive as I'm in the UK.

Not a speedo repair as such but don't suppose you know anyone that has converted a KPH speedo to a MPH speedo? Brought a working KPH speedo with trip counter, but want to convert to MPH - if possible use the internals from my existing MPH speedo.
Anyone tried this ?

I recall somewhere used to sell sticker overlays to solve this.

This may be your lucky day, I recently bought a doner Speedo and swapped my internals to it. Can't be sure but I think I kept the old back which I think was in mph. If I can find it and you can collect (Cheshire) then you can have it. I'm pretty sure the internals for the speed would be The same. Is the mileage in miles or kilometres? Anyway, let me know and I'll go on the hunt if it will help.

I’ve managed to source another mph speedo as a donor, but i’m after How To convert the kph to mph.
I Heard vdo speedos are difficult to work on.

There’s nothing to convert it’s just the speedo face that changes as far as I’m aware, that’s why people sell just the conversion graphics as the mech is the same.

More digging around, and it appears if i change the face to a mph speedo, the needle is in the correct place already.
I thought it was possible to change the gearing from a mph speedo, so trip / mileage are in mph.

Found a samba article on conversation, looks challenging and delicate.
Dont want to knacker a speedo.
Found a specialist up north. Hopefully they can sort.

A kph overlay on my mph speedometer was available in 1972. The odometer and trip odometer remained reading miles. Changing the kph to mph, or the reverse, odometers will be the challenge for conversions, internal gear change required
