To be honest, I have never needed one. A bit of wiggling and at most a little persuasion from a rubber mallet is all I have ever needed.
 
Two big washers ( I think NLA vw sell them) and standard 3 leg pullers . Deffo leave nut on though until the wheel pops
 
And put on some copper slip or similar when you put it back. That way it will come off easier next time.
 
Buttys Bits sell a steering wheel removing too. To be used with a three leg puller as I recall.

I bought one, but havent got round to using it yet. :oops: Previously I could never get my wheel off. Its stuck fast.
 
I did more damage than good when removed mine with a 3 arm puller with washers :x

Tried hot water, hammer and in the end used a little heat with the puller on and POP she came of.

Then spent a few how's rebuilding the surround of the Central piece of the steering wheel!
