Strange shims between spring plates

Anyone seen this before between the spring plate and hub/bearing carrier there are two shims they look like they have been there from factory .Question is has anyone seen this before and do i put them back?Ive not seen this before when restoring my other vws.You can see the marks on the spring plate and hub

Can't imagine a shim that small doing anything but I think washers are sometimes used to prevent negative camber.

Never seen that before, pulled dozens of spring plates. German sense of humor?

Mine had them.Did'nt bother refitting them when i put on the ajustable spring plates no negative camber or problems.

most likely a camber issue, is there any other reason for a shim there?
