seen their ad in cnb wondered what they're like??
need to sort me endfloat n usual oil leak n wondered whether to get another longblock n transfer me bits(all new except dyno)
get a recon turnkey or just strip n rebuild mine??
don't fancy me van being off the road saying that i wrap it up in garage after the first salt is laid on roads.
never did much spannering before i got the bus and abit hesitant to strip n rebuild cos i got no clue,or specialist tools.
do you need any to do an engine?how much is a rebuild top or bottom or both??
thanks for you 2p and for looking.

regards

thing is and only an opinion, if you engine hasnt ever been rebuilt before and therefore you got all og stuff ie heads etc then it my be more benificial to rebuild that unit as at least you know you got a good base to start with, if you go down the of the shelf item , then you will have to give them your working engine and they will give you another one although its rebuilt, you wont know what has been fitted and with what until its too late or not.
It maybe cheaper or similar price to have your motor rebuilt than to buy off the shelf.

we run an off the shelf motor which is a vege and to be fair its ok and never let us down although it gets looked after pretty well, but i would have had ours rebuilt if i were to buy do again.

there are loads more people out there other than TES , i would shop around and see what they are all offering, you may find a few hear thatll steer ya in the right direction. and normally a good rebuilder dude will turn you around soonish

ps i had two complete wank engines in ours before this one with welded cases and miss matched heads etc , i guess you learn the hard way, if its cheap there is a reason

there are a few guys on here at mo selling motors i believe too have

good luck

I've got a tes engine and it's been faultless. Not one drop of oil anywhere on the drive either. I'd highly recommend them.

I've had two problem free engines from TES and have heard many horror stories about supposedly 'reputable' big name engine builders. Maybe I've just been lucky.

I've got a TES engine fitted and so far not a problem and you talk to the guys building the engines not a reseller.
I'm very happy with it. :D

Cheers,
Rob.

My bus had a tes engine 4 years ago, and has been spot on. Have done some long trips too. Never misses a beat and is a great starter.

Why not just adjust the end float and change the oil seals? Neither of these things are a reason to get an engine rebuilt/replaced.

I had a TES engine once... Never again. Leaked oil from the word go, rear main, pushrod tube and oil pump. The rocker shafts were assembled wrong so they didn't sit right on the valves too  I also know the fella who runs DLF classic cars out these parts, he told me he fitted a TES engine to a customers VW and it flew to bits within seconds of starting because the rod bolts weren't torqued correctly :?

Guess you get good and bad stories. Tbh just sort your current engine.
