Thermostat puzzling me!!!!!

Hey guys,

Got the engine out of my lovely 71 project. I have the thermostat attached to the bottom of the block with the rod out of it but when I look at my Haynes manual it says that this has to be attached to a "flap" in the fan shroud. This is all missing and I don't know what bits to look for. Any advice?????

They seem to come up second hand quite cheaply.

Thanks for that I'll keep an eye out as the engine is a few days away from being put back together as it's fully stripped for a nice rebuild if the weather turns and I have to stop welding my chassis up!!!
