looking at running states plates in black with white letters, good idea or will i get stopped even time i go out?

Really does depend on if you happen to drive past a traffic/proactive copper...

I ran German font on my Golf for 3 years - MOT no probs, but the whole point is the ANPR system doesn't recognise it as a UK number plate...

So if you do get stopped, it can be up to a £1000 fine, and a correction notice that has to be stamped and sent off by an MOT station within 14 days

I think when I got stopped, they just issued me with a correction notice, and obviously you've got the cost of the new plates...

Not worth the hassle these days!!!

I've had US plates on mine for 6 years. Got tugged 2-3 times to begin with but they don't care anymore

5 years for me, and never been stopped. thats with no front plate too! although for the last year or so i've been running black vinyl letters on the front bumper 8)

I got pulled for my US plate on rear and no plate on the front this week I've only been back on the road since July, however really nice guys checking the bus out while I swapped for pressed Ali plates as requested.

It all depends on the officers which pulls you. They are not legal it's the chance you take, white letters on black seem to be more discrete unlike mine..
