Finished the build of my new 1776 last week.

specs:
Case - autolinea 90.5 full flowed
Crankshaft - Counterweighted 69
Camshaft - Scat C35
Barrels & pistons - 90.5 AA
Cylinder Head - 40 x 35.5mm 90.5 CB Performance
26mm Oil Pump
Scat lifters
Solid rocker shafts
Rocker geometry set with 60" shims and longer push rods
Twin ICT carbs
Huco fuel pump, relay and inertia switch fitted.

Put it all together, ran like a dream set the timing and balanced the carbs.
Broke in the camshaft

Took it for a gentle run only to find a massive oil leak.
Engine out, found I had pinched one of the oil cooler seals.

New seals and oil change as the cam break in done. All back together and in the van, running like a pig only on no's 1 & 2 cylinders.
Checked spark at 3 & 4 ok.
Found fuel leaking from the pump. Found I had pinched the O ring when re-orienting the outlet pipe (seems like a recurring theme here)
New O ring fitted, still running on 2 cyl.
Took carb out and found crud in it. How that happened I do not know, filter on outlet of tank and internal filter in carb.
Carb cleaned and blown out.

All back together and now running sweet as a nut. Just got to break it in gently and oil change at 1000 miles.

Got to love these beasts, otherwise I would have had an epi...

At least you learned something with each pain point, eh!
That's what I keep telling myself anyhow 😅

Why break it in gently?
Drive it normally, just avoid lugging it in too high a gear, constant motorway driving and revving the tits off it for a few hundred miles, it will be fine. If it's going to fail, it'll fail anyway.

Like sparkywig says drive it normally, Get it up to temp a few times, the heat cycles will help bed everything in.

For the engines we do we say 500 miles the change the oil, filter and lash the valves.
