Hi,
Thinking of uncovering the sign writing on my bus as I can see it underneath the light coat of topcoat which someone has put on before they sold it on. Think it used to belong to a hotel in Cali somewhere I can just make out "for reservations call"
Anybody got any ideas about the best way to go about it???

If it's a light coat of paint over the og paint there a HD paint stripper out there that if you use very carefully with a kitchen sponge and don't leave it on will remove the top layer of paint, most automotive paint sellers will stock it (black tin with yellow circle on it)

Cheers Graham, yes I think they just gave it a waft over to save time removing the sign writing because it's flaking off in some areas where the prep wasn't upto it.

Don't know if a camera will pick it up, you can just see it raised up in the paint when you get the sun light at the right angle.
And don't known if I've got the balls to attack it with paint stripper!!!

Literally you apply the paint stripper with the sponge scrub it for a few seconds and wipe it off before it removes too much

It just goes against everything I've done for the last 6 years polishing to make it look good now paint stripping to make it look better!!! 8)

The bus will be at viva skeg Vegas this weekend on "Carolyn's coffee sack creations" stall if anybody wants to try and decipher the hidden signage

We are trading at Skeg Vegas, do you want me to bring some paint stripper with me

, I might track you down to see if you think it would be viable then drop it off to you at the end of the season with a wedge of cash and walk away with fingers crossed!!!

You could try shining a spotlight down the side of the bus at differing angles and use a helper so you can see it from different angles as well. Then you should be able to work out what it says. Also when you have tried doing this, do the same again with a light mist of water on it then get someone (your helper) to shine the light again from lots of angles and various positions and let us know what you can see :p

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Might be fantastic :p :p :p :p

If I get a chance before the weekend I'll give it a go but bit busy at mo getting ready for skeg Vegas, just hopes it's all intact and salvageable!
