have been trying to rig up my heat exchangers today. my van is missing the link pipe from the y pipe to the front cab pipe.not sure you can buy this pipe now. has anyone replaced theirs, and if so what with? cheers, steve.

I think JK do them: http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_2_bay/steel-heater-tube-127cm-long-90mm-dia.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They do a couple of sorts tho so probably worth having a chat with them...

cheers andy.think it maybe too big :( may have formulated a plan using drain pipe and thick rubber!

if its the main tube that runs along the centre of the van then i replaced mine in my last bus.i used one from alan schofields that came in two parts.one slips inside the other to get the right length.then needs welding to the centre chassic rails.

Hi, just ordered one today from VW Heritage.They sell two types! one normal tube and the other with the correct dented top.Fairly east job to remove and replace .
I am in the process of replacing my heater y-tube that was completely rotten . Tricky and head scratching job to fit a new one but if anyone needs advice and measurements i am happy to help .One question though what are you covering the heater pipe with ? originally it has a insulated cover [sleeping bag] mine is very old and brittle .Any idea's what to use ?? i suppose it would need to be both waterproof and fireproof.

Seen drain pipe used, it tends to crack and then falls off! As mentioned you can get a replacement from schofields.

Well its not essential to have it on although I guess it does make a difference. Personally I'd paint the tube with hammerite or similar first. You could probably use exhaust wrap but this would be expensive and a potential moisture trap?

Presume it was a bit chilly on the way home today! Was someone else hogging the electric heater by any chance?! Was great to meet you two, bit rude of me to rush off as I did without saying 'cheerio', was rather late for collecting my boy, sorry :oops:
Catch ya soon!
