I think they only feed the bulkhead vents that you mention. I'd say that looking at the position of the unit in relation to the normal position of the vent, it is partially obstructed, hence the ventilation holes let into the side of the unit.

its the same with the devon cooker position, the vent just sits behind going no where, no air flow from the left bulkhead to the back. i dont think it would be missed.
