Finally planning on taking the front wheel off the front and sticking it inside and looking to fit a badge in its place.
I have been looking at badges and does a post 73 badge fit or do i need an early badge? What is the difference?
I've bought some badge clips (4) so presumably i need a bagde with 4 mounts, do i have to remove the spare wheel riv-nuts to fit the clips?
Where is the best place to buy a badge from?

Might just fill the holes and leave the front plain!

Hi,

I had to do the same to our Bus. I removed the riv-nuts and then had to weld a small disk into the holes and then re-drill the correct holes for the clips. I held the small disks in place with a bit of weld wire bent with three legs tacked onto the disk, which prevented the disk falling inside the panel. These were then ground off at the same time as cleaning back the weld.

The early badge is quite a bit larger then the late bay badge, but I can't quote the sizes.

I prefer a badge on the front as I think it looks better than a plain panel. 8) ...but that's just personal preference

looking for the same mate, got one from vw heritage for £40 i think....it was awful, turned up looking like a banana and was sooo flimsy compared to the original.

Have been on the custom and comercial web site and the one for £60  looks good quality... havent plucked up the courage to spunk sixty bone on a badge yet though... let me know if you get one :p

you could try 'Skitts' he was selling them a while back, top quality and triple chromed. i can definitely vouch for the quality 8) .

Just found skitts7 via the members search and PM'd him.
Hopefully he still has or can get some
Cheers for the heads up Johnny

Nice one, just waiting for skitts to reply, hopefully he still has or can get somemore.
Anyone know when he was last on line?

hes on VZi alot as well i think his username is Skitts77 or something close to that.

I think Skitts had a bunch of original ones that he had re-chromed. I seem to recall that he sold them all. I think I have a nice original one in my garage somewhere if you're interested.
