VW T2 WANTED YORKSHIRE

Hi, i am new to the VW scene and would like a good honest and if possible rust free camper.
Keep looking on the usual internet sites but can only find piles of junk.
As long as its got a rock and roll bed i can fit out the rest of the interior if needed. Dont want a project as i am a mechanic and dont want to be having to do engine rebuilds at the weekend.
Only thing is as with everything i am on a budget of no more than £8000 ish.
Its a big ask but has anyone got my ideal bus for sale or does anyone know what sites i could look on apart from the usual.

hi mate got a 71 tintop its fully painted in orig colour got all interior van is taxed and long mot, all up and running, no rust at all, the rear rock and roll needs refitting,
the van is in Gateshead ready to drive anywhere. if you do the interior very small things. ill sell at at £10500 but worth £14000 when complete..

You can pick up a good Californian bus for 3-5K import it for £1,500 and save 2-3K. Don't be rash, don't rush in to buying have a good look around here in the UK and US.

Tintop


Roof and gutters in good nick with a few rust spots
All the out riggers and jacking points and main chase done to high spec
Front cab floor been done to high spec
Front outer arches replaced
Right back outer arch replaced
New front steps done
New front panel replaced
Imported beam bought but needs fitting, have the old one to strip parts eg: leaves discs calipers
The loom is present but needs looking at
No engine
Body work in need of work eg: filling priming
Back cab floor needs replacing on the left and right side the middle section is good
Front bumper is in need of work
All doors need work
Few spots on chase need plating and welding
Needs inner arches replacing
Inner and outer sills been done on both sides

Panel van so no glass present but hole cut also have some windows cut from a bus

Good point and work need doing list could go on

Thanks to all who responded to this post, just to clarify a few points.
No projects as i dont really have time to do major jobs.
Would like a taxed and tested runner with minor imperfections not a problem.
I know its a big ask for a tidy bay for my budget of £8000 ish but someone must have a tidy bay that they want rid of before winter sets in.
I dont mind travelling a bit but i live in Yorkshire so as close as possible.
Would settle for a late bay but would like tax exempt if possible.
Someone must have my ideal camper
Please help, money burning a hole in my pocket.

Try restore and more NE, in Chester Le Street, near Durham.
They might have a late bay, tin top, runner, driver, good original paint, part westy interior around that price at least last time I was there they did, 1 week ago!

'Leela' is my almost completely original 1972 ‘crossover’ Dormobile which is road tax free and has the added benefit of an LPG conversion!
Bought her in 2010, I had various bodywork and other repairs done to pass the MOT. She is in great useable condition. If you send me your email address I can send you a timeline of everything done to the van since last owner bought her in 2005. (I can't do it here!). I was given all MOT's receipts etc from then which confirm it all.

A few minor jobs here and there are all that is needed and only an MOT & LPG test are required to get her on -the-road and rolling, which is still our plan to get done. Family issues prevented us from using her last year. She is started up periodically even though currently SORN'ed.
We are not desperate to sell 'Leela' but it is highly unlikely we will not be using her for what she is built to do... go camping! We need more seats now so I am now considering changing to a Type 2 six/seven-seater Combi or 'bus' instead.
All the pics & misc. info have been put in my photobucket: - feel free to have a browse and see what you think of her!

A current agreed value (for insurance purposes) of £11000 was made by my insurers. I would consider an offer above that value.

12 Months MOT, 12 Months TAX (exempt)

Original interior. 4 Berth (2 bunks in pop top, rock n roll bed), fridge, cooker (under seat). Newish engine. New Pop top canvas fitted.

Very good condition for age. (some surface rust)

Drives very well, ready to drive away and camp.
