Hi! I've finally bought a T2 Westfalia Campmobile after searching on and off for a few years, determined to avoid a rust bucket. I have been going through the van this week, gathering confusion and questions in the process. If any of you have any insight into my interior, I'd be glad for the info!

Firstly, I have a damaged warning sticker on my sink cupboard. This is next to where the rear single seat is, and where I understand there should be a camping stool. What is this warning trying to suggest? Is it referring to the seat or the stool?

Secondly, I believe there was supposed to be a table for on top of the sink. This next photo shows the screw holes left behind. There are two groups of three holes. Which type of table was here before?

Thirdly, what's with all the Westfalia stickers? Which of these are original, if any?

Finally, I have an unusual cupboard instead of a spare wheel that the previous owner suggested was both factory fitted and very rare as he had never come across another one. Does anybody know anything about this?

I hope to be visiting this forum regularly and learning a lot from you guys in the future!

I have one of these stickers at home - from memory, I think it states that the seat is not to be used without a seat belt when the van is being driven - I'll check.

The sink hinges are available on eBay - the table top will be harder to find.

Unsure about the stickers - I'm sure someone will be along shortly :)

You'll need a flip top sink lid and fitting hinges. Yours should be the plain white sink top, not the blue detailed one of earlier models.

As above the sticker is not to sit on the stool as a travelling seat.

Unsure about the decals ...

Never seen a second cupboard like that before. My hunch is that its an addition by a previous owner, the curtain fixing adjacent to it certainly isnt factory. Some more closer pics would be good to see. That said, its a pretty good way to make some extra storage.

Thanks for the info guys. I've just taken some more photos of the second rear cupboard. It certainly seems that it would have been a later addition. Although, it appears to be in the same condition as the opposite cupboard. Particularly the hinges on the door and the white edging, which has shrunk to the leave the same sized gap.

The final pics indicate it isn't factory, but it's different and practical. If the bed width reduction doesn't bother you then keep it. :)

Yeah I think I will keep it. It is certainly old, even if it is not original!

I have been exploring again today and I have a couple more questions. :D

Behind the passenger seat there some holes and some hooks. Does anybody know what these are for? I have circled the holes in white and the hooks in red on the photo.

Also, I've been considering replacing the floor vinyl. What is the general consensus on the best replica replacement for a Westfalia floor?

Finally, the plywood that is lining the roof and sides is tired. What is the best way of getting this to look the same as it did originally? If this is not possible, what is the best replacement?

I want the van to be as original as possible but it is looking pretty tired!

The Westfalia decals on the back and front aren't original, later Westys had them, but slightly bigger size.
The decals on roof rack (the side of the rack) may not be original but it would have had them there from new.
The one on the interior are repro decals and not originally fitted.
I may have the sticker you need for your buddy seat.
I'd keep the original flooring if it's in reasonable shape, get a mat to go over it if it's a little tired, and show us picture of headliner pieces as I may have some.

Thanks for the info about the decals. I'll probably get most of them off. I've taken another look at the decals on the roof rack and, as you suggested, there is evidence of a previous sticker a bit lower down.

The headliner is not actually too bad. There are some marks in places:

It's the side panels that look the worst really:

I do have another question. My tap appears to have a white plastic base which has silver paint on it. Does anyone know if this is original, and should it be painted silver?

The floor is actually covered over with a different lino. I took the picture of the original floor which was showing beneath the sink cabinet. This is how the floor is now:

Finally, I have noticed that my steering wheel has a VW symbol on it. Is this original? Also, the black paint has come off to reveal a green surface around the edge. Is the black paint original?

Thanks!

I deduce that this is left-hand drive Westfalia campervan of either North American or European specification. Noting that you have what looks like a padded dashboard, strongly suggests that it is of North American specification.

The damaged sticker which reads, "Sitzen nicht wahrend der fahrt benutzen", means that the seat is NOT to be used whilst the vehicle is being driven.
