When fitting a westy bed do I really need to take the firewall off to put a nut on the back of a bolt to secure the supports on the rear bulkhead or is there a special nut thing that I can fit instead??

Thanks guys

You could use a riv nut  Or if you carefully drill a pilot hole with the bit right up in the chuck, you could have a peep where the tank is then wack a large self tapper in there, something like a roofing / sheeting screw. Mine only had self tappers in and that was in the rear bed and in the arches but they was quite meaty.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,It weren`t original though   ;)

Mines attached with self tappers, but they were drilled before I got the van.

There's a fair distance between the tank an firewall so it should be fine.
I did think the seat/bed wasn't very sturdy when fully bolted down to the floor and firewall so ended up making two extra brackets to the sheet running up @ about 45 degrees to the floor.
Was much happier with the rigidity of the seat then.
