What era do you consider when calling a car a classic?

I always felt a bit uncomfortable with the tag historic. EB's may be classic, but not historic. Historic to me would include singular vehicles involved, or synonymous with, historic events. these might include the convertible smeered in jfk's blood, willys jeeps, lenons rolls royce and the 5th beeltle on the abbey road cover, paddy hopkirks beetles and minis, etc. (i'm sure there are thousand more). not that I want to pay road tax but the description "We'll let these few nutters off so that lord bewerly won't become bancrupt" might be better on the tax disc. Don't forget what they don't take in road tax they take in fuel duty.
