What's this then? Random lead and plug found in engine bay

So while dismantling my engine bay at the weekend and swearing at the numpty who had the van before me (Redbull can over the coil) I discovered a lead with a three point plug that disappeared around the back of the fan shroud. Not wanting to drop the engine to remove the fan shroud to see where it went I thought I'd ask here.

So, what's this then?

Think it might be for engine analyser hook up for crank speed sensor, what engine as think thats on type 4 motor.

Thanks! It's a type one which, is coming out for a tidy this weekend so I'll trace where it goes.

Yeah, it is the diagnostic TDC sensor connector for the flywheel. Not used any more.
