am thinking of changing my stock rims for a bit more bling, tbh i dont like much of the usual off the shelf stuff on the market, they all seem a bit...well...****

and all the ones i do like are either rare as rocking horse, you have to be a mechanical genius to get em to fit or thay cost an arm and a leg.

However i do like the chrome radars but i've only ever seen them on a slammed beetle.

So, anyone got em? or anyone got any recommendations? i really love those hand built son's of ******* from germany, you know the ones that take like 3yrs to arrive and cost a kidney? don't know the name of them, just seen them on a few splits and always drool like homer simpson as they roll on by.

Hi,

I'm looking at Randars - as opposed to Raders/Radars as I'm thinking of running 4.5" at the front.

From what I've found out JGE Raders (Empi style with the ribbed spokes) fit onto a bus with no need for spacers or modification - although the rear centre cap might need a tweak? There are a handful of earlybays running JGE raders on this forum.

Der Steiner Rads??

some nice wheels there, what are these the spokes seem to be wider? not the Porsche rims but the one behind.

Those are Randars :) Anybody know whose bus it is? Wouldn't mind asking them a few q's...

yep radars, the 15" have the thinner spokes, move upto those huge babies and you get the deeper spokes correct me if i'm wrong but 17" and was that Stamford hall 08 if so Graham L was there so he may know whos bus it is

ah right so the 17s only get the fat spoke treatment not sure i wanna go that big! they look cool though.

I know Boris who makes the DSRs they are lovely wheels but are wrong in my opinion (and his) for a Bay.
Bays are too slab sided and these thick spoke heavy looking rims dont look good at all. They look so right on a KG but the more solid looking rims go well on a more stremlined car.
They are just about OK on a Split but trust me if you offered one of the DSRs up to your bus as i did i think youll go off them on a Bay.
Also depends on the colour of your bus as Black rims look better on a lighter shade of bus i think.
Just my opinion.

JGEs seem to be getting very popular all of a sudden. Those Mooneyes Speedmasters are a nice wheel but have also become very popular, which just goes to show to me that the market is ready for some more investment in wide 5 wheels.
Doute it will happen though. Mores the pity.

both jge( java global enterprises), and midland wheels do radar replicas. the general feeling is the jge is a better wheel. more expensive though. have heard storys that midland aquired scrap jge moulds to make their wheel :? .i got mine at dubfreeze last year from jge for £300. bargain as they were £475 at the time on their website. they were making way for new stock. had a few fitting issues on the rear though. am running spacers, and had to grind down the 3 lugs on the drum, and grind down the hub nut. could also only get 175 tyres on. but was worth it though i think.

sounds like a well thought-out design :|

You're right there, that's why I changed to BRM's. No faffing around with maching drums, hubnuts, etc.
Brilliant customer service as well..............not.

Would that be MWS customer service by any chance!!!!!!!!!!! I am suprised if they were anything other then perfect in this respect
I dont know how this outfit manage to stay in operation. Ive only dealt with them twice oncee over the phone were they basically told me it was my car that was the problem and not the wheels, the other was face to face at a show and to be honest i was in two minds weather to just lay the bloke out and be done with it.
The finish on the wheels are hit and miss.Ive had some that looked like they were painted in a rain/sand storm and the ones ive got now which have lasted really well considering where i live and that im not big on cleaning them.
If i saw some nice Flat4 BRMs for sale id be tempted as they look much better and the finish is much nicer. Ive also got some ideas for detailing some Mooneye Speedmasters but i need to find some second hand ones first as the purchase price on new ones and the detailing work i need to do would make them to expensive.

hmm horror stories eh! not good.

now i'm put off the only wheels i like! i thought they were gonna be bolt on jobs? how can people sell em for bays knowing full well they wont fit without grinding stuff off

crazy
