I had a similar problem, turned out to be a broken filter in the tank, when i flushed the tank through and fitted a new filter the problem went away!

Your symptoms sound like oil pressure light to me, maybe because you said the green light, which on my Oval is oil pressure! In any case the way you describe it, it really sounds like the oil pressure, fine when cold, flickers when warm on idle. I'm probably not on the money with this one, but...

Nice one, if you take the rotor arm off there is a felt pad in the shaft, just put a few drops of engine oil down there when changing the points and it will keep the weights lubricated :D

I'm not sure why you think it would over heat? It's only to allow warm air in to help with cold running, and would default to the open position.

I've changed to my Hotmail and after the delay of having my account reactivated for making that change, it's working again!

There is a later type still with vacuum. I believe the one above was one year only replacing the cable operated type.

Try getting a slightly later vacuum operated one

I know on my '71 US import, it had what looked like an early front connection to the pedal and a later end to the clutch arm. I think I used a different pin (later) at the pedal if I remember rightly. Not sure about the lengths though. I guess slightly longer would be better though

What timing do you set that at at idle (vacuum blocked) ?

Does your timing light do advance degrees? Also which distributor do you have, got a pic of it?
