New 1776cc engine and no power

What causes the compression to be low on all four cylinders? I would understand if it was one cylinder or one side of the engine.

New 1776cc engine and no power

There's a bit of a problem there. I've had the engine over a year now, I haven't got a reciept or invoice or anyway to prove where I got it. I expected to fit the engine sooner but I found quite a bit of rust on my van, it's took just under a year to weld the van up.

New 1776cc engine and no power

Is it worth me carrying on with this engine or should I look at getting another one?

New 1776cc engine and no power

Thanks for all the replies. I've altered the throttle pedal linkages, the carb linkages and I have set the carbs back to the settings as described in the dellorto manual. I took it out for a drive this morning and it seemed a little better. When I got home I done another compression test as the...

New 1776cc engine and no power

I cant remember, I know I have to use the smaller spark plugs so I assume its the correct head, I will have a look tomorrow just to make sure. Thanks, I'll get a timing light ordered and I'll double check it at the weekend

New 1776cc engine and no power

Thanks for all the replies. I've replaced the fuel filters, they are all brand new. I didn't do the timing this was done by someone else. They set it up using a timing light, I don't know what it was set to. If I buy a timing light what should it be set to? It has a flamethrower 009...

New 1776cc engine and no power

I've just fitted a new engine into my camper and have taken it out for the first time and I am not happy with the way it performs. I know I have to run it in but the engine feels dead, it seems to have no power. I took it out for a drive and it hates all hills no matter how small. It even seems...

    New engine and NO power

Thanks again for all the replies. I've now done a compression test and all cylinders had the same result. Checked and adjusted the valve clearances. Adjusted the throttle so it opens up more. Cleaned and adjusted the spark plugs. Checked that the fuel filter was clear and it still looks like...

    New engine and NO power

Yes it was, I got the engine a while ago before I heard all the negative things about him. I would have fitted the engine a lot sooner but discovered a lot of previous bad repairs on the van so it ended up with me and my cousin taking a year replacing most of the chassis and various other...

    New engine and NO power

Thanks for all the replies. Its got a new clutch fitted. The engine has no go along the flat as well. Out of gear it revs fine. With the old fuel pump I was using (facet electric pump) it did pop and would hunt at idle but with the new pump it revs and idles well. Its in first, I'll check...

    New engine and NO power

I've fitted a 1776cc engine and 2 litre gearbox in my camper, I've taken it out around the block to check it goes ok and it doesn't. It really struggles up the smallest of inclines ( I ended up in first gear and it only just made it up). The brakes aren't sticking as I've checked and renewed...
