    the green goddess................ 1970 microbus

Nice bus Chris! It's always nice to see some clean wheel wells. I've never seen the part number on the front beam before, others have said it didn't exist! What's the story with the later style front? Any plans to switch it back to the low light front?

Looking good 8). I agree with easy, it's all about the details. I'm really digging the mud flaps, nice touch. Whats next on the list?

    Cker5's '70 Bay Westy

I feel like I'm shooting the same shots but a small update is in order. I painted the bumpers, gas door, electric outlet, front grill and trim pieces under the rear side windows during the last few warm days we've had here in the south. I had to get the paint color matched at the paint shop...

Thanks! No, It's a two stage base coat/clear coat. The base coat is alpine white with the olive and grey added as I went. Then the clear was applied 8) I'm sure there are vinyl ways of doing this as well though. Cheers!

Thanks you guys for the support! It could be a few inches towards the ground, I've been looking into maybe a Link Pin suspension up front but I think I have to do some machining in the rear to bring the wheel offset in a bit? Anyone have any experience in this matter? here's a rendering of what...

    Cker5's '70 Bay Westy

Alistair, what's up man! I also had a real pain with the trim, until I got some leftover little westy trim screws (the real small ones) and a drill on the lip of the sunroof opening. There is a tiny lip about 1/8" and if you are careful you can use a small drill bit to make a small hole to...

    Cker5's '70 Bay Westy

Greetings all! It's been a while and I feel I've made enough progress to warrant a mass photo drop! I've spent some quality time refitting the sink plumbing along with a new faucet (first time I ever seen water flow through my westy). I made my own curtains, time consuming work for sure! Fitted...

FS Alistair's 1970 Westy SO70 Campmobile - San Lorenzo, Cali

Ahhhh, I see it now! Yup, you have the right piece. I wonder where the screw holes are from? an incorrect install I suppose? The plastic just slides into the galvanized strip in the ceiling with the panel. My pain was trying to dislodge the wood panel from the metal strip. You're on it kid 8)...

FS Alistair's 1970 Westy SO70 Campmobile - San Lorenzo, Cali

Alistair, Hey dude, You may not have the sliding door trim after all, the piece should be straight not curved. The trim attaches to the wood roof panel with a 90Ëš lip in the galvanized metal track that the holds up the wood ceiling panels. I had to pull the wood panel out a bit of the...

FS Alistair's 1970 Westy SO70 Campmobile - San Lorenzo, Cali

What's up Alistair?! I've been searching the sites for the same explanation for the sliding door plastic. I've had the piece off my westy for about 4 years now and decided it was time to figure out how to install the thing again. I've been looking at my piece not really understanding how it...

    Steve's 1971 Dormobile

I'd like to see more shots of that beam and what you have planned for it. Are you going up with it? Man, I'd like to see some Dormobiles up close but I'm in the states, they simply are not here. Nice work, way to keep at it! I know it can seem like hell in the beginning. Cheers!

Thanks Alistair, yeah i used rustoleum brand painter's touch in semi-gloss over the OG wood. The OG wood was ratty looking and stained and I made a bad choice with my first attempt so I decided to just paint it. I recently re-visited the movie, The Karate Kid and used a brush technique from Mr...

Some more photos of the progress on the interior and after two more 12 hour sessions this week. The paint on the ceiling came out good, it's nice to have the interior looking snug. I am stoked about how the floor came out almost looking OG  The trim on the sunroof opening was a total pain...

She's lookin' nice Alistair! I am totaly diggin what you guys did with the ceiling panels, great idea! I spent several hours re-painting my panels this week, what a difference it makes to the interior. I'm in the market for stickers. I hope you don't mind, I may end up with a lot of the same...

The OG style Westy flooring is a tough item to track down. Thanks for noticing, this is what I know form my adventure. The commercial rubber flooring industry is putting out some products that come damn close. Only trouble is, the amount you need VS purchasing a 39' roll of product. Some...
