You are correct. used the old wire fed through the engine bay, joined the two ends with masking tape and pulled back through. Thanks for that. Next. the previosu cable attached to the pedal with the wee bolt/clamp affair. The new one has a hook. Does the hook go straight onto the pedal...

Broken cable removed. Replacement cable looks to be the same length. Fed through from front - went through the full lenght without much resistance. Went to engine bay but no sign of the cable. tried to pull back through from the front end but only comes back by about a foot then sticks...

So the universal needs cut to length once fed through?

Will the universal do for a LHD as well? (The clue probably being in the name).

Accelerator pedal broken - hopefully photo shows this - cable detached from the wee bit that holds it into the engine bay. Can this be reattached/crimped in/something else, or is the cable completely knackered and needs fully replaced?

Other than buying accuspark "ignition kit 16", are there any other bits I need to buy to get this fitted?

What' s the best way to get these two bits looking a bit smarter. ie the bit round the ignition is all worn away, and the rusty bits on the dashboard where it meets the windscreen.

Update. Lovely day here today. Replacement pulley and fanbelt arrived. Managed to change pulley ok. New fanbelt had teeth - I couldn't get it to sit tight enough even when no shims in place. Used previous fan belt without teeth (condition of that belt seems to be ok) and seemed to sit much...

Now that We've got the photobucket thing working, thought we should say hello properly. Wilson is a 1971 bay LHD. After a problematic refurb, we are now able to enjoy the early bay lifestyle. We're looking forward to an interior refit soon as well. Need to get the dynamo pulley fixed first...

I've ordered a 9.5/905 for a 1600 engine with dynamo - does that sound about right? That was the size I've just removed so presumed should be like for like, although with some of the earlier problems I've had with this refurb, I would be open-minded to advice.

it's ok - it slid off so waiting for new pulley to arrive before doing anything further.
