Yep,pipes and their brackets needed a little modificatien as i mounted a OG westfalia towbar that i had for +\_ 4 years :msn4: Will be using the towbar mainly for bike carrying.

Not even for a moment, my old hot 1641 had twin carbs, external oil cooler and bla bla..... and i still have a set twin carbs laying arround but i wanted a engine just as simple as vw intended. My air cleaner bracket is a bolted one now so i can easily go that route, but this is so quiet now...

Small update. Sold my old 1641 en built a 1776 out of 90% NOS VW parts the carburettor is a 37mm, stock cam, stock crank and stock heads with a CR of 1:8.3, also using the flaps and thermostat, engine warms up much quicker now, didn't had them in my 1641, took ages to warm up. Dog house cooler...

Thanks Shaun, will be saving up for a set of these babies! Good job on the 15" splittie rims, if you decide to run them with hubcaps later on you can easily mount the clips with a M3 bolt and nut and not using rivets and destroying your paintwork. I used these bolts with a nyloc nut and this...

Nope not yet, but i'm not going to use this set, i have a nice 10.000 km old mahle set from the 80ties and will use them. It seems that the quality of all the new stuff you can buy today is totall crap!!

Found this today in my Mahle 1641 cillinder, when hot cillinder no. 3 made a bit of a knocking sound now and then. Looks like rust pits but the pattern? it's at the complete diamater and about 8cm in height, the other 3 cillinders were fine. Sorry for the crappy phone pic, will upload some...
