One for the engine pros

Found this today in my Mahle 1641 cillinder, when hot cillinder no. 3 made a bit of a knocking sound now and then.
Looks like rust pits but the pattern? it's at the complete diamater and about 8cm in height, the other 3 cillinders were fine.

I have build quiet a few engines but never seen something like this.

Have you checked the "Roundness" of this barrell ??

And not just at each end...... All the way down

Nope not yet, but i'm not going to use this set, i have a nice 10.000 km old mahle set from the 80ties and will use them.
It seems that the quality of all the new stuff you can buy today is totall crap!!
