Check what the maximum hitch weight is for your tow bar. Most modern cars are 100kgs, but I think the original westy ones were only 50kgs. Also, can you open the engine lid when it's attached...? Cheers Al

RH for me for as long as I've had the bus. States I have to carry fire extinguisher too, but I think that's because it's a campervan and has cooking facilities not because they like to catch fire. European cover got my bus back from Switzerland last month with very little hassle... Cheers Al

It was a Firetec one with the pipe that goes around the roof of the engine bay. Yeh, a fuel fire might have been alot worse...not worth thinking about! Future plans...thinking of really upsetting the purists and going PD130 Tdi with flipped 5-speed box :msn4:

I fitted one like the pic from Limebug... Made a big difference, but also transmitted loads of noise through vibration. Now I use a standard bush with the bolt from the solid one and find it a great compromise (expensive bolt though!!lol)

We are selling our Opus trailer tent... Only 9 months old and tows nicely behind the bus...but will need a decent powered motor! I run a 2.0l n/a Subaru engine and it copes nicely (Opus weighs in at about 750kg before you add your bits and pieces). Genuine reason for sale...might possibly regret...
