    Raising the suspension on adjusters

As I recall , on mine the preload tension was so much that they popped out themselves when I undid them. Usually you need a large fork separator that will damage the boots.

    Raising the suspension on adjusters

If you are on flipped spindles you don’t need much lowering via the adjuster for regular use. I’d readjust that bottom tube and leave it. Unless you ‘want’ a new beam I think it’s overkill.

    Raising the suspension on adjusters

If the top adjuster is fixed you could just buy another adjuster* and fit the outer hardware (or just buy a replacement nut and grub screw from a fittings place) to the lower adjuster and reset it. It’s a bit old hat now but it was quite common to lower buses by just one tube until a few years...

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

Thanks to you again Mike. I thought I’d caused too much fuss initially so I’m glad there are now straightforward solutions to fitting it. There’s a part of me that should be vexed at the hassle to fit a £40+ stupid part, but life’s too short :D

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

I’ve fitted mine now. I took to the end of the rod with a flap wheel on a grinder and using trial and error measurement I took it back until the bush fitted. I can’t see any issue with this as it isn’t changing anything important and won’t weaken it significantly. They don’t just ‘fit’ an og...

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

I'm hoping it was a blasted/painted og one! But! I may be being naive , but if there were any caveats to it fitting, they surely would have made mention of them.

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

Yes I was thinking last night, I was just trying to fit it quickly and also I tried by putting the bush on the pin and pushing the shift rod onto it - which clearly now will never work. I'll go again tomorrow with a more thorough approach and bearing in mind what we now know. Hopefully the other...

People put roo bars on for looking cool for a while, like the Boatyard Buses ones, but noones putting those on for aesthetic reasons .... are they? :D Also, look at the side of it ... you can see the old gas locker door breaking through to say 'G'Day!' Edit ... its left hand drive though :( I...

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

Thanks Steve. I hope this wont turn out to be too much of a nause - just the possibility of gathering all the old ones back, return postage costs and then potential import duties on the replacements ....

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

I cant see any other bushes for other models on their website now at all (Type 1 and Splitbus are the same type on other websites) now, so its hard to think they have sent the wrong parts, unless I'm missing something. Seems odd they could get this so wrong, but I'm interested to hear a response...

Good work there, yes, makes sense. Did they send Beetle ones?

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

I’m not sure what the properties of Delrin are so I don’t know about heat etc. I feel mine has a slight ‘step’ on its inside which might be catching on the mounting pin. Or, it’s so tight a fit the angle of approach needs to be perfect, and isn’t right now. It’s quite tricky as there’s not a...

Group buy- Delrin bush for shift rod

Anyone else tried fitting it yet? The bush fits in the rod well and on the protruding shaft but I can’t put it together , I assume the fit is ‘so’ good it’s too tight? Not sure how hard to hit it?

    A favour ….

Six hours plus. She wasn’t bothered about a time, just to finish. (She had to queue for a loo that took half an hour 😂 )

    A favour ….

Well she did it! Thank you to those who have donated, anyone who still would like to - it’s very much appreciated. She’s not a regular runner so this was quite a big challenge.
