    Raising the suspension on adjusters

As Clem mentioned, as your top adjuster is at full height, you may find the bottom ball joints pop off as its actually being forced the wrong way at the moment, the top adjuster is meant to be higher on the beam than the bottom one currently the arms are working against each other and under...

    Raising the suspension on adjusters

Can you get a picture of your spindles from the back of the wheel, that will give a better understanding of what you are running but it looks like an original beam that someone has welded adjusters into and if you are running flipped spindles with upside down balljoints you will get a lot more...

    Oil leak

A few of us aircooled mechanics looked at this and it appears the latest gaskets have a lot more rubbish in them rather than just cork which under a microscope produces an uneven sealing surface, the Elring ones are absolute rubbish and will not seal without sealant. One of the mechanics did...

All original restoration or resto-mod ?

Nothing wrong with upgrading to keep it rolling along nicely, better brakes and a bigger engine are always good bets and are 100% reversible if the next custodian wants to go stock, thats the joy of VW's, each to their own. We run 2 buses (crewcab & hightop) both with 1776 and 'freeway flyer'...

    Raising the suspension on adjusters

As others have said to raise it you really need to dismantle at least the bottom ball joints to take the tension off the leaves and remove the top damper bolt as that will stop it moving as well, adjust and then refit. If you are looking at gaining 2cm I'd be inclined to move it 2 notches (paint...

    Volksworld Show 2024

For those that have watched the decline of the Volksworld Show over the last few years theres currently an active discussion on one of the 'Trader Groups' where hopefully the feedback will end up back at Kelsey/TMS who run the show for Kelsey. We'll see though, its been talked about before but...

We put this out on our FB page on Monday, sorry to dissapoint Aircooled Campout 2024 Update We have looked at the dates for this year and it appears to be a really busy show season with everything back in full swing. With this in mind we have taken the difficult decision NOT to run the...

    Ninove

Glad you enjoyed it Martin, if they were only up to the 600's it was quiet, pre Covid it was well over 800 and sometimes into the 1000's. Its one of our favourite euro shows but the ferry price from Hull put us off this year and lots of building still to do.

Parts Wanted Need 4 of these please…

It's not the bearing he's after, it's the cup that sits in the end of the beam end in front of the bearing.

Headlining - one or two parts!?

Your bus would have been a kombi from the factory not a microbus, still had windows all round but was designed as a work vehicle, they only had a cab headliner for the driving area, the back was a ply/hardboard headliner

    Midlands Swap Meet

Was a good day for trading as well and good to meet up with so many familiar faces, much better start to the year than the old Dubfreeze. This is the second one Steve has run and as far as I'm aware its planned to be an annual event (y)

    Ben's 72 Bay

You may struggle to get that to follow the orriginal route of the loom, not trying to be negative but personally I would have run a bigger power supply cable to under the dash and then put a fuse box there and then just run signal wires to the back as a smaller loom, also are you running earths...

Indicator Cancelling help needed on a 72 Crossover

Sounds like it needs moving up the column as the column is wider at the top, the shear bolt is only on late bays not on earlies

Servo problem with new Weber ict 34’s

Are you sure they've connected the servo pipe, servo pipes are usually a minimum of 10mm ID and it's important the one way valve is in place, who installed the carbs?

1970 westy roof canvas - which brand?

We only ever fitted WW ones supplied through Schofield's, best quality out there ( we refused to fit cheaper ones), dont be fooled into buying a 'cheaper one' as you'll regret it when you come to fit it, best to remove the roof to fit it as really hard to get the canvas fitted correctly to the...
