    My base doesn't even lock... I can freely life the base up and down and if I go far enough, the bed falls into place.

    Agreed. Since making mine electric with a little pump and micro switch, washing the windows is a joy rather than guesswork.

    Because the roof is curved and you push that bit to move it to the up position. It can’t be moved further from the upright position and catch on the roof canvas.
